Internal Factors Affecting the Surface Rumpling of a β-NiAlHf Coating

β-NiAl coatings on a superalloy substrate will inevitably result in severe rumpling at elevated temperatures; however, the associated mechanisms are not completely understood. The scale behavior of β-NiAlHf coating deposited by electron beam physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD) single crystal IC21 was investigated this work. Some internal factors, including mismatch coefficient thermal expansion and stress induced growth oxide phase transformation, were taken into consideration. between main factor responsible for during cyclic loads, while degradation from to γ’-Ni3Al played dominant role static loads.
